Spring Term 1 Newsletter

Welcome back, we hope you had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. It has been lovely to see all of your children refreshed and taller!

Our new learning challenge for this half term is one of my favourites ‘who are the characters in my favourite stories and rhymes?’ and will be based on Nursery Rhymes and Traditional Tales. Throughout the topic, we will be learning to sing and recite a variety of Nursery Rhymes and enjoy a range of Traditional Tales. This has always been a lovely topic and often one of the children’s favourite so we are excited to start it!

Last term we were really impressed with how reading at home had increased weekly and we had almost 70% of children reading 4 or more times at home! All of those children received weekly prizes for their participation and many received their own story book to take home.  Thank you to all of the parents who have been joining in with the new reading scheme, it has been lovely reading your comments on how your children are finding it. Please make sure to return all laminated reading cards.

There have been several lost jumpers/cardigans. PLEASE put your child’s names in the jumpers/cardigans. If a jumper is found with a child’s name on it can be returned. Any unnamed jumpers/cardigans are placed in a lost property box near the coat pegs in Nursery.

We have had a few children bringing toys into school. Please can you encourage your child to leave their toys at home and to not bring them into school. We have plenty of toys here at school and if your child brings in their own they are at risk of being lost or broken, so please leave them at home.

If you would like to discuss any concerns you may have with your child then please contact the school and ask for an appointment or catch up with me after school.

Warm wishes,
Miss Mather.
